ATMTC At Your School

ATMTC offers residencies to benefit youth in after-school and school –time satellite arts programs. Students learn the creative process, teamwork, and communication skills in an arts educational format taught by professional theater artists. A semester’s work culminates in the creation and performance based on the group’s shared life experiences.

Play Workshops

Some schools put on a play or pageant each year with a student cast. Adventure Theatre MTC has the capability of bringing in professional Teaching Artists, Directors, Stage Managers, Musical Directors, Set Artisans, and Costumers to produce and launch a full-scale production for the school. Whether large or small scale, ATMTC can help make your students’ production experience one of their most memorable.

After-School Classes/Workshops

ATMTC offers a wide variety of classes in Glen Echo and Wintergreen Plaza, however we also partner with area schools to bring several of our “classic” classes to their after-school programs including Adventures in Theatre, LightSaber Adventures, BeTween Actors, Steps off Broadway, etc. This class can be customized to meet your school’s goals and needs, based on the existing and current performing arts offerings. The class can be more loosely structured to include fun improv and theater games or can delve into a more formalized scene work structured workshop.

Character Education Residency

A resident Teaching Artist will work with one classroom (or grade) once a week for 45 minutes for 6 weeks to ultimately create a script with themes that speak to the values of character education such as: honesty, cooperation, fairness. Students would work with the TA in two models of dramatic work: first in improvisation and process drama and moving towards scripting. The residency could culminate in a final sharing for the school and families.

In-School Players Touring Company

Bring ATMTC to your school April 10-May 11, 2012 with ATMTC's new musical production, Just a Dream: The Green Play. When it comes to the environment, young Walter is far from enlightened. He's a litterbug who believes sorting trash is a big waste of time. But one night, Walter dreams about a very different future. Filled with humor and fantasy, Walter’s dream is a wake-up call for him – and all of us – about what we need to do to protect and preserve the future of our planet. Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg in partnership with Bethesda Green. To book this show in your school, please call CLASS ACTS ARTS at 301.588.7525 or email at info@classactarts.org.
