Summer Musical Theater Training Program for Grades 5-12

From the high school musical to the bright lights of Broadway, whatever your musical theater aspirations, your foundation will be in technique training.
The Summer Musical Theater Training Program is an exciting and fun 3-week program designed to provide strong technical training in singing, dancing, and acting to young musical theater artists. Registered students will be placed companies based on skill level, age, and character type. A showcase of student work will be presented on the final Friday of the program.

Contemporary
Broadway Revivals
Golden Age/MGM |
Registered students will be placed by ATMTC staff into a Company (A, B or C) with up to 19 of their peers based on a combination of factors including skill level, age and character type. Company assignments will be made based on observation, assessment and a series of exercises on the first day of each session. Companies will train together in the core classes and will work exclusively and collaboratively during the rehearsal process to perform assigned musical numbers, vignettes and scenes on the last day of the session for audience members.* |

Session I- Contemporary Musical Study (Grades 6-12) |

Company showcases will focus on the study and performance specific to contemporary musicals such as Legally Blonde, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Spring Awakening, Rent, Wicked, In the Heights, Footloose and others.

Session II- Broadway Revival Study (Grades 6-12) |
July 15 - August 2 |
Company showcases will focus on the study and performance specific to recently tony-nominated Broadway Revivals such as Guys & Dolls, West Side Story, Chorus Line, Sweet Charity, Ragtime, Oklahoma! and others.

Session III – Golden Age/MGM Musical Study (Grades 6-12) |
August 5 - 23 |
Company showcases will focus on the study and performance specific to classic Golden Age MGM studio produced musicals such as Meet Me in St. Louis, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Wizard of Oz, An American in Paris, Ziegfield Follies, Singing in the Rain and others.

A Typical Day at ATMTC's Summer Musical Theater Training Program
The program consists of a daily schedule in the three core areas of study: dance, acting and voice, weekly specialized master class sessions with professional musical theater artists and afternoon genre-specific company rehearsals. The program culminates in a showcase of selected musical theater works on the final Friday of the program.*
*Note: Roles or performances in the showcase are at the strict, sole discretion of the Director.

What you will need to wear/bring:
All company members will be required to adhere to a dress code, the details of which are below:

Gentlemen: Fitted black or white t-shirt.
