Summer Camp- Glen Echo

Celebrating 38 years! Experience musical theater in a fun, full-day camp for grades 1 – 6. Your child will work alongside accomplished D.C. area theater professionals and teaching artists during daily rehearsals in dancing, singing, and acting. With props and costumes, singing and scene-work, your child’s experience will culminate in a performance of a full-scale, youth-appropriate main stage show for friends and family. Please note that students are grouped with their peers, and casting is at the discretion of the director. Space is limited!

E I E I OOPS!

Old Macdonald had a farm, E I E I.....OOPS?? Old Macdonald's cow is refusing to moo, and the other farm animals must band together to cheer up the cow and encourage him to join the song! Designed for our youngest performers, E I E I OOPS contains the familiar song about Old Macdonald's farm, as well as several new songs for each group of animals to sing and an uplifting story about cheering up and supporting each other. 

   

Return of the Glass Slipper

It's a world of make believe, where wishes can come true! Cinderella gets a makeover in this fun re-telling of the classic story. Cinderella meets a charming young street urchin named Al in the marketplace, and the two immediately become friends. But Al has a secret, and Cinderella must attend the prince's ball to find out what it is! 

   

Thwacked! 

A spoiled prince is turned into a frog, a frog gets thwacked on the head by a piece of the sky falling, a village full of indecisive citizens can't decide what to do, and a school teacher is trying to solve the mystery of a falling sky! Thwacked is an exciting fractured fairy tale full of puns, laughs, and fun songs. Join us this summer for this ribbiting adventure! 

   

Tom Sawyer

Mark Twain's classic gets a fun musical twist in this version of Tom Sawyer! Mark Twain himself leads us through Tom's adventures, punctuated by upbeat songs and interesting characters for our oldest campers to explore.

What to bring:

closed toe shoes and clothing that easily allows for full range of movement

a peanut free pre-packed lunch and afternoon snack that does not require refrigeration. Due to special dietary restrictions and food allergies, ATMTC will no longer be able to provide an afternoon snack. *Please do not pack lunches or snacks that include peanut butter or any other nut products.

Note: A daily email newsletter, The Kids Cue, will be sent to all registrants by the Summer Program Manager. Students will be asked, on occasion, to provide additional personal items such as tights, shoes, pants, etc. for use as a costume piece. The Kids Cue newsletter is the primary means of communication regarding scheduling and daily camp needs.


About Summer Musical
Theater Camp

By taking part in this high-quality summer musical theater camp, your child will work alongside accomplished D.C. area theater professionals and teaching artists during daily rehearsals in dancing, singing and acting. With props and costumes, singing and scene-work, your child’s experience will culminate in a performance of a full-scale, youth-appropriate main stage show. Family and friends will see your child’s talents and hard work come to life on stage the last day of each session.

 

 

 

 

Daily Schedule

On an average day, the schedule is as follows:

-

9am: Students arrive

-

9:00 – 9:30am: physical and vocal warm ups, announcements

-

9:30am – 10:30am: First rehearsal rotation (music, acting, choreography)

-

10:30 – 11:30am : Second rehearsal rotation (music, acting, choreography)

-

11:30am – 12:30pm: Lunch outside and time on the playground

-

12:30pm – 1:30pm: Third rehearsal rotation (music, acting, choreography)

-

1:30pm – 2:30pm: Fourth rehearsal rotation (music, acting, choreography)

-

2:30pm 3:00pm: Break

-

3:00pm – 3:45pm: Program wide activity (talent show, trunk show, etc.) or each group presenting to the others.

-

3:45pm – 4:00pm: final announcements, etc.

 

Before and After Care at Glen Echo Park

7:30 – 8:45 am, Monday – Friday

For an additional fee of $80 per session,plus $5 registration fee, ATMTC offers extended hours to care for early arrivals.

-

Registered Before Care participants must be escorted by their parent/guardian directly to the Office Door starting at 7:30am. Children may not be dropped off any earlier than 7:30 am.

-

Before Care will only be available for enrollment by session, not by day or week.

-

All Before Care enrollment/registration fees are non-refundable.

-

Enrollment in Before Care MUST be completed online and at least 24 hours PRIOR to the first Monday you intend to leave your child in our care. No exceptions, as we need to have an accurate attendance list each week.
