Teen Student Production

PERFORM FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

ATMTC Academy Student Productions follow the Maryland Fine Arts Standards providing a challenging outlet for students to develop the skills necessary to be successful, professional performers – including self-discipline, teamwork, problem solving, and self-confidence.

STUDENT PRODUCTION FOR GRADES 8-12

Your child will collaborate with accomplished teaching artists to stage a full-scale, 90 minute musical. With costumes, props, music, movement, and scene work, this exciting experience culminates in a performance for friends and family.
 
Please note that for this program, casting is the sole discretion of the director, and every student will have a moment to shine onstage. 
  
To keep parents informed, weekly reports will outline whether their child is scheduled to rehearse that week. Please note that not all students will be called every week, and only two excused absences allowed for the duration of the production. No excused absences are allowed for performance or tech. 

Grease: School Version

Let us transport you back to the summer of 1959, greaser Danny Zuko and wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski enjoy a sweet summer romance and part ways believing they will never meet again. When Sandy unexpectedly enrols at Rydell High and reunites with Danny! . Bursting with rock ’n’ roll energy and iconic songs like “Greased Lightnin’,” “Summer Nights,” and “We Go Together,” GREASE has remained one of the world’s most popular and enduring musicals and an exuberant celebration of young love, teenage rebellion, and the electrifying spirit of the 1950s.

Placement Workshop*: Wednesday, September 2, 6:00–9:00 PM

Please prepare 16-32 bars (approximately 0:30-1:00) of music in the proper key. An accompanist will be provided. Dress for movement.

*Participation in the final production is a key requirement of this program. No more than two rehearsal absences are allowed. No performance or tech week absences allowed. 

 

MEET THE DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER:

Bryan Stopak (he/him) Director/Choreographer A graduate of The University of the Arts with a BFA in Directing, Playwriting, and Production Design Bryan has worked extensively in movement, production, and design across regional theaters nationwide. As a performer, Bryan has appeared most recently at Olney Theatre Center in Little Miss Perfect, Too Wong Foo, and Senior Class. Adventure Theatre; Not Your Mother‘s Goose [Helen Hayes award winner] The Lightning Thief, Dragons Love Tacos, Aesop Fables. Tobys Dinner Theatre; Mean Girls, A Chorus Line, Beauty and the Beast. Beyond on the stage he has choreographed numerous musicals throughout the DMV including being a featured choreographer at the Capital Fringe Festival for LIFE! A Comedic Opera in Three Acts. His creative influence extends in to the educational realm including several educational theaters and schools in the DMV.
