Elementary classes at ATMTC are designed to give children in grades K-5 a well-rounded introduction to the wonderful world of Musical Theatre.

Through acting, song, and dance our students gain valuable 21st Century Skills that will carry them through many areas of their lives as they practice Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication in a fun and upbeat setting!

These 21st Century Skills include (but are not limited to): 

  • Creativity & Self-Expression – using voice, movement, and imagination to tell a story
  • Collaboration & Teamwork – working with peers to learn choreography and perform together
  • Communication Skills – expressing ideas, emotions, and character through song and movement
  • Confidence & Presentation Skills – performing in front of others and building stage presence
  • Focus & Discipline – learning sequences, timing, and following instructions
  • Adaptability – trying new movements, taking direction, and adjusting in real time
  • Memory & Cognitive Skills – memorizing lyrics, choreography, and performance cues
  • Social-Emotional Learning – empathy, listening, and respecting others in a shared creative space

Our elementary classes are designed to meet your child where they are, and take them where they want to go—no matter their skill or experience!

The Spring Semester runs the week of September 1 through November 21, 2026.
Sharing week is November 17-21, 2026.

SING DANCE ACT (GRADES K1)

Students will learn a song and dance number from a popular age-appropriate musical guided by one of our gifted Teaching Artists. Students will also learn the basics of stage performance, vocal music, and will learn simple movement combinations that include beginning dance technique. This class is perfect for the child interested in exploring the foundations of creative expression.

Sing, Dance, Act’s songs, scenes, and study materials refresh each semester. We encourage you to take it more than one semester to reinforce the 21st Century Skills gained in this class.

ITTY BITTY PLAY (GRADES K-2)

Come create your own little play! One of our elementary education Teaching Artists will choose from 2 stories for the children to read together in class, then decide on which one they would like to present as a play at the end of the semester. Students will devise their own unique way of telling the story through making their own script, creative movement, completed by costumes, props, and drawing their own backdrop! This class culminates with a Sharing Day for family and friends on the last day of class.

BROADWAY PREP (GRADES 2-3)

Students will learn song and dance numbers, as well as short scenes from popular age-appropriate musicals guided by one of our gifted elementary Teaching Artists. Broadway prep students will focus on adding emotion into their songs, scenes, and characters as they work on putting together a fun performance. Students will also learn basic music and dance terminology, and will continue working on building their foundational skills in acting, singing, and dance. No prior experience required!

Broadway Prep’s songs, scenes, and study materials refresh each semester. We encourage you to take it more than one semester to reinforce the 21st Century Skills gained in this class.

Disney Villians Voice Class (GRADES 2-5)

Come unleash your inner Disney Villain in this wickedly fun voice class! Have a blast singing songs from Broadway Disney shows while learning the basics of reading music, rhythm, and pitch. You’ll also learn how to express yourself while singing, and how to project your voice effectively and safely through the elements of basic breath control and support. Through this class, you will build confidence and musicality as you bring these songs to life. Students will sing songs from The Little Mermaid, The Descendants, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and more! The class culminates with a Sharing Day for family and friends on the last day of class.

MINI PLAY (Grades 3-6)

If your child came to Summer Musical Theatre Camp and enjoyed themselves, this may just be the class for you! Students in Mini-Play will work with a Teaching Artist to put together a show over the course of the 12 week semester. In addition to being cast in a role, you will learn about blocking, characters, creative expression, movement, and working as an ensemble, Mini-Play students will also get to explore some of the technical and design components of the theatre such as props, costumes, and sets. No prior experience required! The class culminates with a Sharing Day for family and friends on the last day of class. 

Mini Play’s plays/materials refresh each semester. We encourage you to take it more than one semester to reinforce the 21st Century Skills gained in this class.

Son of a nutcracker! Join ATMTC Academy for Elf, The Musical Jr. Your child will work alongside accomplished teaching artists to put on a full scale 60 to 70 minutes musical.

BRIDGE TO BROADWAY (GRADES 4-5)

Bridge to Broadway students will work to extend their range and character development through dance, voice, and acting. Students will also learn how to prepare for an audition, work on script reading and improv skills, sharpen their dance skills, and learn the importance of working as an ensemble. No prior experience required!

Class Cost: $475

ALL THAT JAZZ (GRADES 4-7)

This class will help the student achieve strengthening of alignment, core work, endurance, and range of motion in the musical theatre jazz style. The class always begins with a warm-up consisting of stretch and balance work. The students will explore different dance styles from some of Broadway’s greatest shows through the years, from Oklahoma to Hamilton! The class will culminate with a sharing day for parents at the end of the semester.

NEW! Mini Play 2 (Grades 5-8)

If you have taken Mini Play and are ready for more challenges as a young actor, and want to deepen your knowledge of drama through collaborative storytelling, this is the perfect way to continue those theatrical studies. Continue your knowledge of building characters as you study more advanced blocking, explore spacial awareness, character objectives and obstacles, and continue working on your performance techniques. Although this class is meant for ensemble creations, students will also have a brief introduction to monologues. Mini-Play 2 students will also get to explore some of the technical and design components of the theatre such as props, costumes, and sets. The class culminates with a Sharing Day for family and friends on the last day of class. 
*Prerequisite: 2 semesters of Mini Play 
 
WINTERGREEN PLAZA (ROCKVILLE)

PRIVATE VOICE (Grades 4-12)

Students will study the technical aspects of voice, geared toward the musical theatre genre, developing healthy skills they can use on and off the stage. Special attention and focus on breath support, resonance, placement, jaw and vowel work, and alignment, to expand and strengthen the vocal range. Students will also work on expression, artistry, and text exploration, working toward a sharing day performance for parents at the end of the semester. This course is guided by an age-appropriate curriculum taught by one of our qualified and gifted Teaching Artists. 
 
At this time, we no longer offer private classes directly through our program. Private Acting (Grades 4-12)

Whether you want to strengthen your knowledge of how to build a character, work on audition material, or gain more experience analyzing materials and sharpening your technique, this class is for you. Our experienced faculty will create a plan for you to meet all of your goals in a private, safe space. Get ready to release your creativity and get invaluable feedback! This course is guided by an age-appropriate curriculum taught by one of our qualified and gifted teaching artists.
