ATMTC Academy Student Productions follow the Maryland Fine Arts Standards providing a challenging outlet for students to develop the skills necessary to be successful, professional performers – including self-discipline, teamwork, problem solving, and self-confidence.
Participation in the final production is a key requirement of this program. Your child will collaborate with accomplished teaching artists to stage a full-scale, 60- to 70-minute musical. Through rehearsals focused on singing, dancing, and acting, they’ll gain the skills and confidence to light up the stage! Please note that for this program, casting is the sole discretion of the director, and every student will have a moment to shine onstage.
With costumes, props, music, movement, and scene work, this exciting experience culminates in a youth-appropriate performance for friends and family.
To keep parents informed, weekly reports will outline whether their child is scheduled to rehearse that week. Please note that not all students will be called every week, and only one excused absence is allowed for the duration of the production.
Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
